In the 1950s, the drugstore was more than a place for medicine. Along one side ran a long counter with swivel stools. You climbed up, gave your stool a little spin, and ordered a malted, a root beer float, or a sundae. Behind the counter, someone in a white cap got busy with the scoops. What was that counter called?
