Game 16

Slow Dance or Fast Dance

Saturday Night Dance

A video by The Platters

The game's question

Ask the question, then just listen—there are no wrong answers here.

Saturday night: shoes polished, hair just right, and the band starts to play. There were two ways to dance. The slow dance: close together, cheek to cheek, barely moving. Or the fast dance: spinning, jumping, skirts twirling, out of breath by the end. You could feel the music all the way down to your shoes. Tell each other: which one was yours?

  • The slow dance
  • The fast dance (your pick—tell the story)
Need a hint?

Clap a fast beat, then sway to a slow one: your feet often know first. Then ask, gently: where did you go dancing back then?

Why this game : Talking about dancing opens up the Saturday nights of those years: the music, the place, and the friends.
