In the morning, everyone has a favorite cup: the familiar smell that wakes you up, the same gesture repeated a thousand times. In some kitchens a kettle whistled for tea; in others the coffee percolator bubbled away on the stove. At your house, was it tea or coffee? With sugar, with milk—or black?
