As soon as the warm weather returned, the laundry went outside to dry. In the backyard, a long line ran from pole to pole, and each piece was pinned with wooden clothespins. The sheets snapped in the wind. In the evening, you gathered them in your arms, and they smelled of fresh air. Where did the laundry dry back then?
